2017 Call for Entries

This year we're celebrating everything that is great about the Film Shooters Collective with three member's only shows. Join us as we exhibit in three locations from September 8th-30th, 2017.


Black and White

Blue Moon Camera and Machine

Portland, OR

Overview: This year the Film Shooters Collective is partnering with Blue Moon Camera and Machine to present an exclusive Film Shooters Collective member's only show to be displayed in their Portland, OR store from September 8th, 2017 through September 30th, 2017.

Printing: This exhibit will consist of traditionally printed black and white photography. It is the responsibility of the photographer to pay for this printing through Blue Moon Camera and Machine should he/she be chosen. Selected photographers will be required to send their negative and a reference file or print to Blue Moon Camera and Machine for printing.

For participants selected outside of the United States you will be required to upload a high resolution image to be printed digitally for the exhibition.

Shipping, printing, and return costs are the responsibility of the artist and payable directly to Blue Moon Camera and Machine.

Estimated Additional Costs: The following print sizes will be available to choose from:

  • 11x14" Black and White RC Print with Matting - $35 
  • 11x11" Back and White RC Print with Matting - $35 

Selection Process: Twenty to thirty participants will be selected by the staff of Blue Moon Camera and Machine


Open Theme

Willow Tree

Johnson City, TN

Overview: Ruby Berry and Ellen Goodman will be curating an exhibition of photographs to be exhibited at Willow Tree in Johnson City, TN. This exhibition will feature a carefully selected set of images chosen from all five categories. 

Music from local artists will accompany this celebration of photography on opening night. 

Printing: Printing for this exhibition will be handled by Bay Photo. Upon selection it will be the responsibility of the artist to upload and pay for their work in accordance with the requirements.

Shipping, printing, and return costs are the responsibility of the artist. Ruby Berry will be your point of contact should you like your work returned to you. 

Estimated Additional Costs: Printing and mounting costs with shipping to Johnson City, TN are expected not to exceed $30; amount could be greater if a larger image is desired by the curators and the artist agrees to the costs.  

Selection Process: This exhibition will be curated by Ellen Goodman and Ruby Berry.


The Portrait

Fazenda

London, UK

Overview: The FSC's own Ralph Whitehead will be curating a selection of portrait work for display at Fazenda in London, UK from September 8th, 2017 through September 30th, 2017.

Printing: Printing for this exhibition will be handled by The Print Space. Upon selection it will be the responsibility of the artist to upload and pay for their work in accordance with the requirements.

Shipping, printing, and return costs are the responsibility of the artist.

Estimated Costs: Printing costs are expected not to exceed $20 and will be picked up at the printer. 

Selection Process: This show will be curated by Film Shooters Collective member, Ralph Whitehead.

GUIDELINES

Eligibility: This project is open to all members of the Film Shooters Collective, both amateur and professional, working in the medium of analog photography. Any image originally captured in a non-digital manner is eligible.

Themes: Photographs from the following categories will be accepted for review:

  • Black and White
  • Landscape
  • Portraiture
  • Alternative Process + Instant Film
  • General

Submission: You may submit up to 5 photographs per purchase. A maximum of one image per person will be selected for each exhibition. By purchasing a call for entry voucher you are not guaranteed exhibition.

Deadline and Notification: Digital uploads for selection are required and must be uploaded by 5/17/2017. Late uploads will not be accepted. Notification of selections will be made 5/31/17.

TERMS

Each artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. By submission for jurying, artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant The Film Shooters Collective the right to use their images for the purpose of promoting the artist and promoting the The Film Shooters Collective and its programs, including but not limited to: promotion of the exhibition and any related exhibitions, display on the The Film Shooters Collective’s website of current and past exhibitions, and use in future exhibits. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for The Film Shooters Collective with artist credit. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation from the The Film Shooters Collective.

The Film Shooters Collective has full and sole discretion over the final selection of photographs to be used in the above-referenced exhibit. These selections will be made from all photographs submitted in accordance with and conforming to the specifications and duties outlined herein. Artist understands submission of photo(s) and payment of the required submission fee does not guarantee usage of Artist's photo(s) for the exhibit or any other purposes described herein.

Artists whose work is selected will be provided with a License containing the above-mentioned Terms upon notification of selection. In order for their work to be eligible for use, Artists must provide Film Shooters Collective with a PDF of the completed and signed license within three (3) days receipt of notification of selection.
