Hank Beckmeyer

I started photography when I was a teenager, using a Nikon FM.  I was fortunate enough to have a darkroom in our house, and I learned both black & white and color developing and printing.

I went a long time without doing any photography during my 20s and 30s, mostly because I moved around a lot.

I can credit the smartphone with rekindling my interest in picture making.  But the quality is lousy, so I purchased a digital camera. The workflow was strange to me, so now it is back to film (in a sort of hybrid way). I fell in love with the look and feel of medium format, and shoot with several older 120 cameras. I also have a dismantled 5x7 siting in a closet.  A rebuild project for those rainy days.

Film just feels right to me.  It feels like photography.
