Mark Hillyer
I’m Mark, a photographer based in Yorkshire in the UK. I’m in the process of returning to film, mainly for my personal work, to rediscover why I got into photography in the first place. I’m trying to slow my work down, to reconnect with that something that just doesn’t seem to be there within the digital medium. I have a lot of nostalgia for the process of planning a shot, metering it and then processing and printing the final image. The more you put in, the more you get out. At least that’s what my mother used to say…
At the moment, my analog work is a mixture of all sorts of subjects but I’m hoping to narrow that down soon. I have a few projects in mind. I love a good landscape but it’s people and the collaboration between photographer and subject that really interests me.
I shoot both 35mm and 6x7 medium format and I process most of my own B&W work
