My name's Syafi and I've been shooting since I was in my early teens. It was just a habit of documenting stuff around me with a simple 4 megapixel point and shoot. Only when I picked up an analog camera that I realized a lot goes into shooting; composition, patience and much more. As a student, buying and processing film was expensive and from there did I treasure each and every shot.
I'm not a pro, neither did I just start out on photography, but I'd rather call myself a serious hobbyist. I love film, its magical. Each day is me scouring for images on the net, for inspiration and also constantly learning new ways and techniques to take that one special 'photo'.
I'm currently on a quest to find the best film for each situation so I've bought lots of different kinds of film just to have a feel. Yes, I prefer black and white, but why not a bit of colour to spruce up your life?
As Edward Steichen said, 'A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.'. Hopefully I'll be able to improve on that!
